"Mine is the Month of Roses; yes, and mine
The Month of Marriages! All pleasant sights
And scents, the fragrance of the blossoming vine,
The foliage of the valleys and the heights.
Mine are the longest days, the loveliest nights;
The mower's scythe makes music to my ear;
I am the mother of all dear delights;
I am the fairest daughter of the year."
-  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Summer thyme~ Things get busy

Here are a few things that we have been up to~

Happy Anniversary to my daughter and son-in-law this week~

Kindergarten graduation for this little tiny thing! She was born a little early and has always been very petite. She is far ahead in her studies already though, as she is reading at 2nd grade level. Reading is so important at a young age! We have been digging out some of the books that my children used to read to share with all of the grandchildren .It is so much fun to watch them learn.

She is still a little peanut~ but so beautiful!

Another birthday celebration this week!

This little guy is now a quarter of a century!! How did that happen??!!! I can’t possibly be that old already??? !!!!! Can I???!!!!

adorable couple!!!

Pool Party ~Birthday Party for him  tomorrow. The temperature is supposed to be 111 ! Yikes!

There has been lots of craziness in the news lately!  I am trying to stay positive.

I will leave you with a positive quote~

Encouragement is awesome. It has the capacity to lift a man’s or woman’s shoulders.... To breathe fresh fire into the fading embers of a smoldering dream. To actually change the course of another human being’s day, week, or life.

Life Is For The Living~

There is so much wisdom that comes from older people, or those that have been through difficult experiences. This picture below is my Aunt Peg(with my sister Jane), the sister to my Uncle that just passed and my Dad who has been gone for 14 years.

Aunt Peg and Jane

She married a Navy guy at 17 and they have lived all over the world. Her husband was older than she was and he passed away over 25 years ago. After the services and all were over, she said Uncle Milt would always say, “Life is for the living”,  “don’t  carry on about me when I am gone, live your life”. So that was her motto. She took her children and grandchildren to Disney and they were able to be together as a family. So with that being said, I am moving on with the living!!

These are my mums from last year! They are so beautiful! They have filled in the buckets and look so nice. It is reminding me of all of the wonderful fall colors that I love.

Red tomatoes already~

My pumpkin plants are growing well~ the pic below is how they are doing now. The one on the right is growing in the compost.

They are popping up in between the flowers as well.

The moon was looking amazing tonight over the city~

Wishing you a blessed Sunday~ Sara

My View From The Back Seat~

…from the back seat of a big olde station wagon that is! Well not even back seat….the way back, or maybe sometimes the third seat.

st wag

The American Heritage Dictionary defines a station wagon as "an automobile with one or more rows of folding or removable seats behind the driver and no luggage compartment but an area behind the seats into which suitcases, parcels, etc., can be loaded through a tailgate." I guess I fall into the ” etc “ part, because that was usually my “seat” and I use that term lightly. Having a large family which included 7 children; I would have been “packed” in behind the seat with the supplies for the day, weekend or week.

Memories~ we all have them. That is for sure something that can’t be taken from us. The memories that I have of Uncle Charlie almost always involved a station wagon of some sort. It may have been the large luxury one, a smaller compact one, and may even have included wood grain siding. Yikes! Yes gotta love the wood grain paneling!!!You see despite the rivalry between brothers there was a bond that no other could share! The brotherly love, the banter, out doing each other, one upping the other. Oh you know you have memories of that. Behind the toughness there was love. Love of family! Being there for one another through thick and thin. There were so many get togethers and vacations with the families together, and yes they always included a station wagon and on occasion three. The trips to Cooperstown NY ~ The Baseball Hall of Fame, the weekend camping trips to Swain’s Lake. the visits at Grammy and Grampa Brown’s~ get out of the garden!!! Don’t pick the flowers!!!! You know you have all heard it!!!

You can hear the voice now, can’t you. The memories of the voices. Uncle Charlie's voice on the answering machine. Even in the later years of life the brothers would stay connected. We would come through the door, my dad and I from a Dr’s appointment and he would check his phone messages. This was the message~ “pick up the phone it’s your brother!!” The first thing dad would do is call Uncle Charlie. Again the banter, the brotherly love.

No matter what the occasion, Charlie was full of a love for life! He had a big personality and he could radiate the room with joy.

We were honored to have Uncle Charlie and Aunt Lucy step in as honorary grandparents for my daughter Amber’ s wedding. After losing all of their grandparents, Charlie had stepped up to take the place of Patriarch of the family. A position he was proud to bear. The pictures of Charlie and Lucy enjoying that day, dancing, smiling! I love those pictures as it shows the love for life and love for family in the smiles!

Charlie will be missed dearly, but his memory will live on.

Craig and I have always been there for family when needed. We have given and shared, whether it meant  a ride, babysitting, giving of a car, a little cash, or an ear just to listen. We have gone out of our way to be available and to care. That is why it is so hard for us to not be there with you all right now. To give a hug , to share memories, to listen and share your grief. When we heard last week that Charlie and Lucy wanted to see us, it broke our hearts that we weren't  able to be there. If it had been at all possible to be there in such a short notice, please know that we would be. We love you all and send a big hug for everyone. Prayers and hugs to you all.

Blessings~Sara (and Craig)

Feeling Blue~

Well everyone has been sick the past 2 weeks. It keeps going through everyone. One family to the next. From the little ones to the big ones. It is getting so tiring.

We also have been dealing with family back east. Last year when we went to NH for the family reunion, my uncle had asked for us to get together. Well he ended up being on oxygen and not being able to make it to the reunion. Things were hectic and we didn't get to see him. They live about 3 hours away form where we were. So in the last few months my cousin has called me and informed me that hospice had come in and they only gave him about 6 months. We were trying to find a way to get back to visit. Didn't happen. So on Friday morning one of my cousins messaged me on my business page and said that his dad and mom wanted to see us. Well I about lost it. No idea how to work that out.And then I looked and  It said that he was trying to hook up skype. So my hubby called him, and they couldn't get it to work. My cousin said they were having a good day and just wanted to see us. Well today I received a call that he passed away .The family will be getting together on Father's Day to make arrangements. So that is what we have been up to. Sad times! Being torn between being here with family and not being there with family. Please keep them all and us in your prayers. This will be a trying week for sure. Thank you all for you care and concern.GEDC2964

Father’s Day will be somber~

The hutch above reminds me of my Dad. My hubby built the blue hutch for me to hold my cobalt blue mugs that my Dad made for me in ceramics before he passed away. You can see more of my Dad here.
