The circle of life; so thankful and a giveaway winner…..

GEDC0229

Life  is funny sometimes. We go through our days, weeks, years, planning, changing, growing, thinking we are doing something different than the generation before us. Then we realize, what goes around comes around. Hairstyles come and go out of style, clothing fads, raising a new generation. We look in the mirror and we are becoming our Mother’s, our children are growing up and becoming more like us(even though they would never admit it).

The beginning of a new school year, always has us thinking and changing. What will we do different this year. A new start, a new beginning a chance to start fresh.

Lot’s of reminiscing this week. Our oldest granddaughter started kindergarten this week. Thoughts of our own children starting school for the first time flood through. The emotions of sending a child off for the whole day away from you. You wonder, have I equipped them to take on this big world, to survive out there without us. I was reminded of that this week as my daughter told me about her thoughts as her little child stood on the school playground. Things that you want to say to them as you watch them take there firsts in life. Things that you would like to remind them of and help them with, but all you can do is silently watch as they walk away …….alone………. without your hand…….

This past week has truly been a blessing to me. I have had so many wonderful comments  and such a great response to this giveaway. I truly am blessed to have gotten to know so many nice people here in the blogging world. I truly appreciate each and every one of you!!

Business gets busy this time of year. There is so much to do as we spruce up out homes and get things in order for the coming months. We have been busy with lots of custom orders. We just love to create new things for people, something to fill in the gap that nothing else can fill.

If you see anything that you have questions about please email me. Most of our items are listed on etsy or on my Facebook page which you can find HERE. I know I have had several people ask about custom signs, and family names, etc. Now is the time to plan ahead for Christmas if you are looking for a custom item. How nice would it be to be able to give Grandma her favorite verse on a sign to hang in her home in a color that goes with her décor. The mother in law that is always hard to buy for. You get the idea.

I have had so many requests for this tree. I haven’t even listed it yet and I have already sold one. I am only going to have a few more to sell, so if anyone is interested please email me so I can plan and set one aside for you.  I am going to offer them here before I list them anywhere else. I have several sights in which I sell, but I wanted to give you all a chance first. I will be offering it as a package, the tree with the acorns and in a stenciled box. (Each box will be different). This is such a great display that could be used now up until and through Christmas and also to the end of Winter. The box will be something that you could use all year long as well.

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect experiences they've had and synthesize new things.

Tomorrow evening I will pick two different people from the comments here and send out a little something. I have been so blessed, I would like to give a little something back. 1. Yea!!!! Sandi! I have read this all the way to the end! How could you not? The tree with the acorns and box is awesome! I really love the little doll cutie sitting in front of it. She only needs a good book, and she is all set!

I am like Trace, I like the Christmas gift idea with a special verse on it. I know that my mom would love it! So would my sister!

I remember school as a child at different levels. My biggest memory is changing schools in the middle of 10th grade. I went from being in a Christian School to a public one. That was a little like letting go of your parents' hands too. I was protected at my other school. At my new school, I would cry a little each time we said the pledges because we weren't saying the ones to the Bible and Christian flag. Ahh, memories!

I enjoyed your post immensely. It really struck a chord with me being a teacher. Thank you for sharing your heart!

Thank you also for taking the time to delve through all of the technology and offer the giveaway! If you could, could you please enter me in the second one?

      Blessings!
      Heather

  4. oh Sara! Wow, I did finish reading until the end, but, with tears on my cheeks. It is so exciting when our babies do their first things like roll over and smile, start walking, running, growing. Before you know it, you blink your eyes and they are in school for the first time. We are trusting the teachers to keep them safe on this new journey that we can only hear about.
Before you know it, they are in high school, trying to discover who they want to be. So many struggles as they make their own spot in the world.
We my darling friend, are among the lucky ones. God blessed our lives with our children and you even have grandchildren!
And as we become our moms and watch our grown babies, it still chokes us up how we had to let go of their hands, but, it is so beautiful when they grow up and reach out to hold ours!
    Have a blessed day!

  6. Such a lovely post Sara! And congratulations to Sandi! She is such a sweet person : ) You talking about your granddaughter starting kindergarten does indeed bring back memories ... not only of our own children starting school but of our experiences starting school as well. Have so many years really passed by? Weren't we sitting in our little desks with our oversized pencils & crayons just the other day?

  9. Sara,

First of all, I read your post all the way to the end! That's so sweet of you and of course I'd love to be included.

Sandi is a super sweet person.....Congratulations to her! And she just had a birthday or has one coming up....I know it's in August! What a great gift for her!

I call these changes and time that slips by.....chapters in our lives. Sometimes they're sad, as we reflect back over time gone by, but every chapter is just as good, only different. :)

Have a great weekend, my friend!

  10. I love reading your posts and especially seeing your pictures! You are so talented in so many ways. I was a second grade teacher so the first day of school was always a reflection time for me too as was the last. Amazing how the littles grow within a school year!
I would love to be included in your little giveaway.
    Be blessed,
    Cindi

  11. Great post dear Sara....It is bittersweet, isn't it? I still roam the school supplies aisles in the store - even though there's no one going off to school anymore. Sigh. I truly miss that. It is such a crazy mix of emotions....sad that the carefree days of summer are ending, exciting that a new chapter is beginning...the familiar sights and smells, and yet all the new all rolled into one.

Congrats to lucky Sandi! I know she will be thrilled with her gifts from you. And, thank you, again, Sara, for hostessing another generous giveaway.

And, yes, I've read through the entire post (I'm a wee bit OCD about reading posts in their entirety, and all the comments before me)....and while I sat this past giveaway out, I would love to be entered in your little surprise giveaway. Thanks so much!

Have a joyous weekend! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  12. Our kids have gone back to school too. My son is now in middle school, which feels so strange. Such a big change from elementary! I miss the kids during the day. But I try to stay busy so that the day goes by faster and they are home again before I know it!

I just loved all the photos on your blog. So prim and lovely. I can't wait to decorate for autumn. But I wait until after my son's birthday (Sept 22) to decorate. If I bring anything out earlier, the summer season comes back with a vengeance and acts like it will never leave and then it definitely doesn't feel like autumn anymore! I guess that is what one calls a jinx. ;)

    Congrats to Sandi!

Yes, I read the whole thing. :)

    Blessings, Jessica

  14. Sara, I love reading your posts. And I laughed about becoming our mothers because it seems like daily I say something that I heard her once say to me(makes me cringe sometimes!). I hate how fast time flies and how fast my babies grow. While I do look forward to the days of being a doting grammy, I also cherish these days with my children still under my own roof and I don't want to let them go. Can't stop time though.

I love the whole little tree arrangement, but I honestly don't need one more tree or box, can I buy a set of the acorns separately? I also want a sign for our camper, but I just haven't decided what I want it to say yet :)

That is very sweet of you to offer a surprise to more people, you are a generous soul.

  15. Hi Sara

I know what you mean. My 7-year old son told me today 'Mommy, I want to try more things on my own, like hiking in the woods without you, or getting up early while you're still asleep'. He's growing up, and it's a strange feeling.

I read your post, the whole thing :-), so I would love to be included, BUT I would understand if you can't do that. I live practically on the other side of the world, so mailing costs could get pretty high. Depends on what you want to send of course.

  17. Dear Sara,

I wept as I read your post. Your words brought back such a flood of memories. I had my youngest at 21 and my baby at 40. I had children in my home for nearly 40 years. When the youngest left for college I had the same experience I had when each of them left for kindergarten. Lord, please let others be kind to them. Maybe it is a prayer that is always in a mother's heart.

Thank you for your words, you beautiful pictures and another chance to win something to treasure.

I am also interested in tree and box......what is the price?

  21. I read through your entire post - so would love to be entered in your giveaway. Reading your "circle of life" comments so hit home....just this past Thursday a brush fire destroyed my family's "farmstead" (house, barns, etc). No one had lived there for years and it is about 100 miles away from where I live - but it held so many memories. Dealing with the loss/emotions & thinking of cleanup - and yet cherishing the memories - with my parents (in their mid 80s & owners of the farm) - has been a challenge these past few days. But we have memories & faith that will see us through. I'm so glad I found your blog this past week - just reading this post & the events of this week has reinforced the importance of creating and cherishing memories. Thank you!
