the firelight’s on the wall.

“If you were to ask what is most important in a home, I would say happy memories.” ~Lilian Gish
What is everyone doing this week?? Really?!! Do I have to ask??!! Everyone is busy, I am sure. Lots to do. Prepare food, clean, find the best table setting, and of course a centerpiece. Maybe you don’t host Thanksgiving dinner, but you are going to Grandmother’s house. What do you bring? In our home we always have certain people that bring certain dishes or desserts. Is it that way in your family as well. You can always count on Aunt Jane for her famous apple pie or whoopie pies? Oh now I did it. I can feel my eyes tearing up. I am going to miss my sister again. You see we always shared ALL holidays together. Her family and ours. Since we lost our parents so many years ago now, we have always been together. Until we moved across country that is.She will celebrate with her family and her new granddaughter in New England and we will celebrate here in Sunny California. Well another year apart, we will call and talk on the phone.
We will be hosting this year and most of our children will be here. One of our daughters will be going down to the San Francisco Bay area to be with the inlaws. We will miss them, but they will be back to do our annual Black Friday shopping. That is a new tradition we have started in the last few years, since we have been in California. I never went before, I would always stay home and decorate for Christmas that day. New place, new traditions, life is good. Well today we will have the grandchildren for a little bit so mom and dad can have a little date. We have some fun things panned since we won’t see them on Thanksgiving. Layla and I are going to make cranberry orange bread and Isaiah and Grandpa will be working in the shop. Fun times, new memories, life is good. Did I already say that??!! Life changes, we can’t go back, but we can enjoy the memories.

Raise the song of harvest home;
all is safely gathered in,
ere the winter storms begin.”

May all of you be blessed this Thanksgiving day!

Before we move on to Christmas I wanted to share some pics of Thanksgiving and let you know what has been going on with us.
Fall decorating~
I couldn’t decide between the different looks. I guess I am constantly changing things so it will be different soon. We are empty nesters now. We had four children, ailing parents, a dog and 3 cats for so many years. Now it is just Craig and I and our cat named Puppy. So we only cook a couple times a week. We are still trying to get used to that. So I can leave the stove board on to look nice for a few days.
some fall favorites~ pumpkin bread
Pumpkin pie~
apple cake muffins~
Now we just need to add a few family and friends~ this is my give thanks tree from last year. Old pics of family and friends as well as things we are thankful for.

And a little of what is going on here~
First thank you all for your concern, thoughts and prayers. I have received so many wonderful emails form friends letting me know that they are thinking of me or praying. I so appreciate all of the caring friends that I have made here. My husband Craig has been struggling with pneumonia. He just wasn’t getting enough rest and it was just wiping him out. We are still praying it isn’t anything more. He needs to have a follow up test to be sure it is gone( it isn’t totally gone yet). So with that being said, he missed some time from work, so he was "let go" from his job. They said he missed too much time and they want him to get better.. His Dr was only in on Monday , and his day off was Tuesday. They wouldn't switch days or let him use his vacation time for dr visits. He was also so stressed with that job. He worked from 8:30 - 8 everyday. He had no time to do any regular things, or have dinner at a reasonable hour. Hopefully he will be able to collect unemployment, they said he was re-hirable after he was better. You know how those things go. Well hopefully business will pick up and we can make a little that way to survive. One day at a time. If you know of any one that would be interested in our creations please send them our way. Just in time for Christmas.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month………
We have so many things to be thankful for in this beautiful country of ours. Today I am thankful for all of those that have served! They have given us the right to to be free and open with our opinions. We can use our words to heal or harm. The choice is ours.
Today I would like to thank all of the men and women that have sacrificed for me. If you are like me, you know several people that have given their life and dedicated it to serving this country. Some have given the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. Some have escaped narrowly and wondered why it wasn’t them. You can read about my father in law and his service in Hickam field HERE . He was on the ground when they were attacked in Hawaii so many years ago. I am thankful for the family I have today, because he was spared.
I am also thankful for my two son in laws and for their service to our country. They served in the Navy, sometimes out at sea for such long periods of time. Not being in touch with family must be so hard. We learned a lot about the loves of those young men when our daughters were dating. We shard holidays with many of them that were away from families. Thank you Roy and Joshua!
So many other people to thank, my brother, has given his whole life to the service. He has been in the Army since he was 18. He has been to Kuwait, and on missions all over the world. His son returned a short while ago from Afghanistan. There have been grandparents~ world war 1, Uncles~ Korea, stationed in Puerto Rico, cousins …..well you know. It touches us all in some way. So thankful for all that we have today. Blessings for a good weekend…..remembering

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

We have had a busy week! We held an open house Harvest Gathering with all of our creations this past weekend. Our home still looks like a Primitive Shoppe exploded in here!!

I have so many things to get back to this week. I have some pics of giveaways that I have won as well as some swap goodies to share.I also have Thanksgiving decorations to get to, don’t want to move on to Christmas yet. So many things to be thankful for~ like all of my good friends here. You all have been so wonderful and supportive. So I will be back to share those this week.
