…….And that is where we spent the day. HOME~
LOVE~
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31 ESV; Matthew 22:37; Luke 10:27). It is obvious from this passage that love should be the motivation for everything we do; love for God first, then love for everyone else. How different would our culture look if everyone lived in this manner?
I am not sure that I have mentioned it, but our life changed back in the fall. I was chatting with one of my nephews on Facebook one day trying to give him another one of those “talks” about life and he said “I am at the bottom of the pit”. Ok, I said how can I help? He responded, I don’t know, I just don’t know any more, things are really really bad. Well I suggested a few things……. “NO I am at the bottom” without sharing too many private details, I said I can have you on a plane today to come here if you would like. He responded “You would do that for me?!” And so our adventure began! We dropped everything, put him on a plane across country, sent hubby and our son to the airport (3 hours one way) the next day to pick him up. He slept on the couch til we could get him a bed and make room for him. He needed everything, he came with a small bag of personal items. We hooked him up with some medical help, got him some herbal supplements and helped him through the next few months with lots of spiritual council and lots of love. Phew! He is doing so much better now, he has gained about 25 pounds and is on his way to a “new life”. We have used his help with our business and are so appreciative of his help. We would appreciate your prayers for him as well as us as we travel the next few steps together.
Valentine’s Day~
So we spent most of the day at home today, I woke this morning to find a balloon tied to my desk chair~
some beautiful flowers and a box of chocolates!
my Vermont Teddy Bears from years past~
had a few goodies to share with the grandchildren~
pizza for dinner and then we went to get ice cream after dinner.
Our son and his fiancé joined us and we had a nice time of laughs. As we were getting ready to leave,an older gentleman came in and sat in a booth and ordered coffee. He was very scruffy looking and shaking. Our son noticed and motioned to look, he is all alone on Valentine’s Day.
He looked at his fiancé and said we should go talk to him, and so they did. They asked him if he would like company and they sat down and started a conversation. They stayed talking for quite a while and we waited for them before leaving. They talked to him about his interests and his life and then about eternal life.
hhhmmmm Valentine’s spent with some of the loves of my life and then to witness my youngest son take time out of his day to witness to a complete stranger…..(we sent him a piece of pie and paid his bill on the way out. You could remember him as well, his name is John and God knows all about him.)
AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
LIFE IS GOOD!
Praying that you are all well and staying safe and warm through all of the crazy weather that is going across the country. I have been out of the loop for a while and am trying to catch up on everyone. Wishing you all well. Blessings~Sara

What a loving family you have..both you and your son. Your pics were pretty too! Janice
ReplyDeleteThank you for caring and sharing. You obviously taught by example and your children learned well. We all need to be reminded of the important things once in a while. I am guilty lately of fixating on this cold weather. Then I remember "this is the day the Lord has made", the same verse on your blog. I, too, love your pics. I truly enjoyed your blog today. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteHi Sara: What a marvelous kindhearted post so appropriate for Valentines Day.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time, but I moved from No. CA. to MN. in December; it has been an experience to arrive here in the coldest winter ever. I love being close to family though, and wish I had done it years ago. Will be reading your posts more (I was without my computer for 5 weeks after the move!) Come visit me..{{HUGS}} Joy
