Time, where does it go?? ……Do any of you still do craft shows???

I sure wish there were more hours in a day, don’t we all??!! Time to just sit and relax?!! Flip though our favorite magazine, read that book we have been meaning to read forever. You see there are so many things that I would like to do and only so many hours. I have been busy pulling together some new spring ideas and creations. I create things from scratch, I don’t use patterns so it usually is a lengthy process to go from idea to final product.Hubby works long hours as a salesman, so he isn’t here to help as much as I would like. It’s not just with the building of things, for our business , but it seems it is always easier to make decisions with some one to bounce ideas off. My mind can go crazy with ideas sometimes and he is always there to keep me grounded.

Another thing that has taken our time is the good olde television!! Do any of you watch American Idol?? We started watching with season 2. Our children were interested in the show( our youngest daughter was in chorus in high school and she went on competition trip each year, so it was of interest to her), they would bring friends over to watch. We had a family room full of friends and family! It was such a good time to be able to share with our “teenagers” and their friends. We continued the “tradition” through the years, but we haven't been all together for the past few years. This year is different, we are all together again, close enough to take turns hosting. Spending time with the children and grandchildren……ya, that is what it is all about.

Do any of you still do craft shows? It has been so many years since I have done one, I am not sure if it is worth all of the effort. It takes so much time to prepare and set up….etc. How many items do you bring? It is all slowly coming back to me, but I am sure I am forgetting some things. As we have grandchildren we have been creating children's items, as well as lots of spring creations. (Hence the pictures. lol)

These are some of the children’s items that we have been creating.  The little red chairs are so cute. The grandchildren love them. The seat lifts up for storage underneath. Can’t wait to see what the kiddos “store” in there. The little table is a saw buck table with a little section underneath perfect for decorating.

I found these cute little eggs at a local antique store. I am sure that are not very old, but they are so cute with the little bunnies on them, I just had to have them. They fit perfectly in this little spot, along with the little chicky. (I wonder how long they will stay there when the kiddos come along hhhmmm)

Well they will be here tonight. I better go take a look around and see if I need to move anything out of harms way. Thanks for sharing a few minutes visiting with me. I really appreciate you leaving a comment and letting me know you were here.

And don’t forget to say a prayer for all of the people whose lives were affected this last few days form all of the storms. Remember to hug your family and tell them you love them. Be thankful for all you have.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Sara,
Your wood items are just lovely! I can just see the little chairs being used to store tea party items :)
Did you make the bunny pulling the chick? That is just plain adorable! If you make them, can I buy one?

And I agree, never enough time in the day.

I grew up doing craft shows with my parents and they always did really well with their wood items, yours remind me of theirs, well crafted and fine quality.

Prayers for all the people out there affected by the storms.

  2. Hi, Sara. I love looking through your pictures. The red chairs are precious.
Time goes by so quickly, it seems like we were just watching "American Idol" together, the new hit show. Now my girl is grown up and married herself.
I did craft shows years ago when my girl was little, little and she used to go with me and take the money from people and make change (she was 5!). I'm unable to do them anymore but I miss them. I used to do home parties with my girlfriend, too.
    Hugs,
    Susan

  8. Morning Sara,
First I want to say a huge thank you for visiting my blog again and leaving a kind comment...always nice to see you there.

Your thoughts here are so right on...never enough time to do the fun, relaxing things we want...we keep ourselves so busy with other things that we forget we need 'down time' to regenerate ourselves.
Oh I hear you about 'bouncing ideas' off of our husbands...I do it often and most times I take his advise.
Your creations are lovely...they will sell nicely.

Craft shows...used to do them at the beginning of my business...but then stopped...BUT...I just signed up to to the LITITZ, PA craft show in August. And you are right...lots of work if there isn't a return. But we're going to give it another shot I guess! lol

  9. Yes, I agree. Time seems to fly by so fast. I myself get "hooked" on television, especially Discovery channel, ha. I wish there were more craft shows here in Alabama. Sadly, the prims and crafts idea is not too big here.

  10. I so enjoyed my craft shows days but I always set up with my mom. If one of us couldn't do it, then we didn't do it at all. She only scrapbooks now, no longer crafts but I sure miss those days SO much! I can remember us both saying "no more craft shows!" after every single one of them but then we turned around and entered another one, lol! I haven't done one in years, but I can't imagine doing it by myself. It's so much more fun when you have a friend with you.

I hope you are able to figure out what will work best for you. I think a lot of it depends on your area. Like around here, prims are NOT in at all, they don't sell. But shabby sells in a heartbeat. There is not a single prim store in the state of Oklahoma. Some places sell a few prim things, but not a complete prim store. It's just not big here so I would never try to set up at a craft show. They would probably snicker and mock my dirty, rusty things instead of understanding what prim is all about, lol. Best wishes to you~
