Christmas is for giving~ giveaway~

When I think of Christmas, I think of giving.  I always like to be on the giving side. I just prefer it that way.

As we remember the ultimate gift that was given for us on that special day that we celebrate!

So I have a gift I would like to share with someone this Christmas season.

This will be quick and simple so that I can get it into the mail for you in time for Christmas. The items I will be including have more of a winter feel to them. I am so late in getting my decorating done this year, I am leaning more towards a winter look. Oh I will still be getting my Santa’s out as well, but also lots of greenery, berries, snowmen and birds.

All you have to do to be entered is to leave a comment here on this post and tell me how you like to give on Christmas. Please make sure I can find you to get your address. This will end on Monday evening 12/17. I may even pick 2 winners. Below is a pic of a couple things that may be included. This is Christmas after all and I like to give surprises.

So go ahead and leave me a comment. Good luck!

Blessings for a wonderful weekend~Sara

  1. This is such a nice thing for you to do. I live in Connecticut, and with such great sorrow, I look for any gestures of goodness. Thank you and God bless you.

  2. Sara, how sweet of you to do this. My father is such a wonderful man, he is always saying how he would rather give than receive and he has instilled that in me.
Some people from our church go visit some folks at a nursing home every sunday before church. I love giving them little gifts, their faces light up like Christmas trees when we give them a gift. They are so thankful. And I love to give to the salvation army, I rem. the Christmas that we needed help, and so I love giving to help someone else that is having a hard time.
Wishing you a lovely Christmas, hugs, Lecia

  3. This year funds are tight but I gave to the coats and shoes project for the orphans,I'm also giving my time to some elderly people.Truely though I think we should give of the heart all year.Even if you have no money a kind word or smile can go so far.The bible verse on the sign is my favorite.Hope you have a very merry Christmas!~Amy

  4. i usually give to the usps toy drive but thet didn't send out flyers so i missedit. i belong to a group that knits/crochets prayer shawls for fallen soldiers and other charities. denise[]

  5. We generally do the shoe boxes for children, and I love to bake and make goodies and share those with all our friends & families at Christmastime, This year, I can't stop thinking and praying for all those in CT effected by the horrible acts of one person. Many people will have a much different Christmas this year and I so very much am praying for those families wish I could send them all some love & cookies!

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
    Melissa Jo

  6. Thank you for doing such a wonderful giveaway after this tragic crime that happened in CT.
Lets all keep praying for the families it is going to be the hardest week of their lifes, I pray that our Lord gives them comfort. I really feel helpless and I told that to my husband and he said we are praying so don't feel helpless.

I do alot durning the year. I love to give.
This year I made cookies for the Senior Center and they all loved them.
We always give 1 girl toy and 1 boy toy to the state police and our sons do it with us every year even though our oldest is 21 and our youngest will be 18 this week.We also give a donation to the breast fund, the Komen fund.
Right now I Pray for those families and I wish I could GIVE to them what they lost"their loved one's back",HELPLESS FEELING!
Everyone hug your children more and it doesn't matter how old they are and your husbands, wifes, etc.

    Merry Christmas and Christmas Blessings,
I think you know my blog it is Hillcrest home
    and my
    email is

  7. Thanks for doing such a nice thing during such a time of sorrow. The event that took place in Conn, is so heavy in my heart and so many others. My heart and prayers go out to all the people in Conn.

I believe in giving all year through. I do wish that the Christmas feeling would last all year. We give to the needy and two Animal shelters where we adopted our dearly loved kitties.

    Merry Christmas, Janie

  8. I've always been happier to give than to receive and Christmas is the perfect time for giving. After the recent event in Connecticut the one thing I wish I could give is comfort to those who were most touched by that terrible tragedy.
    Merry Christmas Sara. Hugs

  9. You are too sweet and kind, Sara. What a beautiful sign and wonderful post question... I agreed with maddyrose, I wish I could give comfort. I am not a parent, but a teacher. I cannot imagine the broken hearts of parents, teachers, and children.

God has blessed me with so much. I wish I would have the courage to go out and donate my time at Christmas. I would love to go with others to do that.

Since I don't have children, I guess I put that love into my students. I love to give them ornaments to remind them of fifth grade and maybe, just maybe, some of the lessons God has taught them that year. My class, not my idea, my class has decided to give teddy bears to sick children instead of exchanging gifts.

I love to give hugs to my students to make sure they always feel loved. I will be giving lots this week...

My prayer is for God to open my eyes to others' needs more- whether it be a listening ear or other physical needs. I agree with Janie- not just at Christmas, but that I would be reminded throughout the year...

Thank you again for your kind spirit and word of peace, Sara.

  10. Oh Sara, you ARE a giver! Always doing a giveaway to make someone happy. I like to give to those who don't expect it! It is so nice to see their eyes light up and say,"for me?" I, truly would much rather give than receive. I have so much. Hope all is well, or at least better.

  11. I love to give anytime of the year, the animal shelters are one of my favorites. Thanks for having a fun simple giveaway

  12. Just wanted to say I LOVE your blog! Everything is so warm and cozy! My favorite part of giving on Christmas is seeing the bright eyed look of excitement in my sons eyes on Christmas morning!! I will never get tired of that!!! Many Christmas hugs and blessings ~ Deanna

  13. Hi Sara, beautiful thing to be a giver at Christmas time but also all year through. I know the best thing we can give to the families in CT is prayers. God will take care of them! I believe that with all my heart so I pray that they will turn to Him and be comforted by the Greatest Comforter! I also love to give the gift of my love to anyone I see. I am called a people person but it is just really trying to brighten people's days and share some of God's love. On Christmas I love to give presents to people not expecting them! I wish I was more well off so I could give even more but I do what I can.
You are a giver and this giveaway is so special. i would love to be entered!
    Be blessed,

  14. You are one of the most giving people I know Sara ~ What a wonderful Christmas tribute. Like so many others have said, we try to be giving all through the year - but your question specifically asked "at Christmas." Over the past few years, my husband and I usually choose a family that we have come to know or have heard of, and do something unexpected for them....sometimes it is something as simple as buying their tree for them, or a few gifts under the tree. This year, I think it will be a little "closer to home," as this year some family members are struggling.... Thank you for your generous heart!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  15. Hello Sara-
I Like to Give, especially this time of year. I work at a Nursing Home and I like to give gifts to my elderly residents that don't have a family or someone to come see them and spend Christmas with. A new sweater or a pair of socks, brings Joy to those without. As I work 2nd shift, I spend Christmas morning with my Children then I always work the Christmas Holidays, whether I am scheduled or not, to spend time with the residents and make it a special Christmas for them. Thank You for the wonderful Giveaway!

  16. At Christmas we make a special effort to "adopt" a family and provide gifts for them. It's been a tough year for our family, but it's something we never want to stop doing. We also head up the toys for tots program in our community. We receive far greater blessings in giving. You and your family have always been great examples if this to us . <3

  17. There are a lot of ways I like to give for Christmas. Homemade food and homemade gifts are always appreciated and loved. Helping someone with a ride or a chore. Donating to the food pantry. Volunteering time and getting involved with things my church and other churches are doing. I also love to give to the teachers and staff. We don't have family that we celebrate holidays with, so I love that we can focus more on others and not lots of family gifts.

    And you Sarah

    1. *Sara (old laptop is possessed and I don't know what I did to send the comment before I was done!!) And you Sara are generous with your giveaway. I have enjoyed reading your blog this year. Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas!!

  18. Since my mom passed six years ago she left behind eight children and way to many to count grandchildren and great-children, the one question that was asked after her funeral from all of them except me was, "now whose going to bake all those goodies that she made?" at that moment all eyes fell on me. So, I've taken on the baking of all those wonderful goodies our Mom made while she was here w/us. I tell you it is a lot of work, but it's so worth seeing all those family members faces light up when it's handed to them on Christmas Eve/Christmas morning. I know that everyone makes goodies for their family members each holiday, but I can truly say out of all the gifts that are given at Christmas my Mom's bake goods are more appreciated by both all our young ones and adults then any other gift they received, I'm blessed to have been the chosen one that Mom took aside to teach how to make everything she made and to give this gift to each of them I know that warm feeling I get is my Mothers arms wrapped tightly around me,smiling and thanking me for continuing on with her gift to her children. Sara, May you and yours have a Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year! ;}

  19. Hi Sara - Wishing you a Merry Christmas! Our work family has a "charity" pot to help those in need throughout the year. We have a book fundraiser that re-sales used books in one department and we have other drawings and contests through the year. This year, unfortunately, we have one of our own in need. Charity does begin at home, we know she will have a Merry Christmas. Blessings to you!

  20. I love to give to my grandchildren - just seeing their eyes light up when they open their gifts is a gift given to me. This year with the adults we decided not to exchange gifts but rather to donate to a favorite charity. What a blessing!!!

What a very generous gift you will be giving to someone this Christmas season!!! I would love to be entered.

    Merry Christmas!

  21. I love to bake (and especially now that I have a new mixer) and share the goodies with family, friends and our postman. It is so much fun to do something a little out of the ordinary for others.

Thanks for offering your wonderful painted goode for this giveaway.

  22. Each Christmas my daughter and I make a Christmas Box for Samaritan's Purse to distribute to chlidren in other countries who may not have anything for Christmas. We have so much fun doing this and we fill that shoebox so full of fun things as well as a few necessities. We are able to track the package to find out where it ends up. Last year mine ended up in a small African country and my daughter's box went to Madagascar. My husband even made a box this year.

  23. Hi Sara - What a lovely and fitting tribute to Christmas! I love your sign and would sure like to display it in our home.
I do so love to give at Christmas...the smiles on loved ones faces makes it so much fun. I try to make each item as personal as possible, and always make something home made to go along with it.
Wishing you blessings for your Christmas!

  24. Oh, I would love to be entered. I started a Senior Giving Tree where I work and each year we ask our patrons to select a senior, to provide them gifts and we always select our own senior, it is so much fun to give to someone who doesn't expect it. Thanks, Cyndy

  25. This year, I donated to two of our local food drives for the needy. The thought of anyone being hungry just really upsets me. During one of those donations, a can of beans fell on my foot and apparently broke one of my toes :( I will still always donate food to the needy, though. Please enter me in your giveaway. Thanks :)

  26. Hi Sara, would love to be entered. Our family loves to be on the giving side as well. We are trying to teach our young children the true meaning of husband volunteers at a local food pantry and I volunteer at my childrens school. We like to donate food as well as our childrens items they have outgrown. We always like to "pay it forward" when we can, my children find this a very fun and caring thing to do, even the simplest of things, paying someones toll or baking cookies for neighbors:)

  27. Sara,

This is so sweet of you! I'd love to be entered! I love your handiwork. :)

We donate toys to a local women's ministry (to children whose moms are incarcerated), as well as to the food drive. One of our favorite things to do is to pay for the meal of someone behind us in the drive-thru at a fast food restaurant. :) And we try to give of our time year round to our Nursing Home, but we spend a little more time there around Christmas time. We're the ones that are blessed through all of this! Giving works that way, doesn't it?

Thanks again for offering the giveaway! You have a Merry Christmas, Sara!
