YOU Placed The Stars In The Sky……………

How do you decorate for The Fourth of July? How about the other seasons? Do you keep any Americana out during the rest of the year? Well, I have to confess. I have a love of Americana decorating. I love being patriotic, covering my heart as the flag passes by, or for the singing of the National Anthem.  I am thankful for the soldiers that have sacrificed their lives  for the freedoms that I have. I have a nephew that has just returned from Afghanistan with some , lets say, not very pleasant memories, trouble sleeping, etc. I have a brother and several friends that are still giving up their personal freedoms to “serve”. So through the years I have not taken lightly the wonderful country that I have the pleasure of living in. I am truly grateful.

I also have a love of decorating, so when I can combine the two it makes it doubly wonderful.

On a recent visit from my grandchildren, my grandson was looking for a little attention.  I had the opportunity to take a little walk through the house with Isaiah pointing out stars, as he is at the age of picking out shapes  and such. We walked down the hall and saw some stars, we walked into the living room and found some stars, we walked into the dining room…… more stars! I didn’t realize just how many stars that I had collected through the years. One of my sons said, why don’t you start counting them with him?! So we started counting….I am kind of embarrassed as to how many we really counted. They were all through the house and he was pointing out some that I didn’t even realize were there…………well I will show you some, trust me this is not all of them, as they truly would not have all fit her in one blog, and I wouldn’t want to bore you with them all.

You may want to get yourself a cup of tea and sit back and relax, this will take a few minutes of your time to take in.

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

~We had such a nice relaxing  weekend! We celebrated my son Micah’s 23rd Birthday. Micah’s request for cake was ice cream cone cupcakes. This has been his request for as long as I can remember, but I thought as he was growing up that it would change. That is one of the things that I love about him, he is so fun loving, relaxed and knows what he likes. He doesn’t have to be macho, to prove he is a man he just radiates manliness in his presence. He has always been manly, even as a little boy everything about him was all man. One time when he was in High School,he asked me to make them so he could bring them in to “class” and share them. He is so confident of himself that it is refreshing. So we got to enjoy a fun loving weekend with ice cream cone cupcakes and fun and games. Still can’t believe he is all grown up. Happy Birthday Micah!

These are so easy and fun to make, you should give them a try!

My Amazing Box Came Today

I knew that it was coming because I had ordered it, but I wasn’t quite sure what was inside. Let me explain…..You see we moved to California from New Hampshire about three years ago. Back in NH, especially  the Seacoast Area, there are many little shops that sell handmade items. There are antique shops, craft malls, country stores that sell homemade breads and cheeses,  boardwalks on the coast, and so many fun shops too numerous to mention. One shop in particular became one of my absolute favorites. As soon as you enter the driveway you are surrounded with “Primitive Goodness”! The grounds are beautifully landscaped, there are large and small decorative items everywhere you look. There are birdhouses, flowers, wagons, barn stars…well you get the point. When you enter the shop, your senses awaken with the delights of potpourri and candles wafting in the air. Well since we have  moved it has been hared to find some of the “necessary items” that I so took for granted. Buying from the internet is wonderful, but there are some things that you just can’t be sure of what you are getting, especially when it comes to your senses. Well the shop I am talking about is Susie's Bittersweet Treasures.  It is an amazing shop and if you are ever in or near Rochester NH, I urge you to drive on over and check it out. You surely wont be disappointed. Well I e-mailed Susie when I found out that A Primitive Place magazine was holding a magazine signing at Susie's shop. I explained the things that I would like her to send me including a signed copy of A Primitive Place magazine and she responded, “I know exactly what you want and I will get that right out to you”. Well she DID know “EXACTLY” what I wanted because as you can see from the pictures it is all simply amazing. I just wish that you could smell the wonderful potpourri that includes little white stars and rusty bells, that is filling my house with a wonderful aroma.
